Unit 1 Assessment Fear is a scary and creepy thing. I went to Knott’s Scary Farm, and I knew I was going to get scared, but I wasn’t expecting how bad it was going to be. Through the night I was so scared but as I started gaining courage, I wasn’t scared of walking past the monsters anymore. I eventually got used to dealing with the fear. In my experience my fear stayed the same, and I got over it. In our unit we had many stories that went over different transitions of fear. For most stories to be frightening, they must present some form of transformation or change. Three ways transformation is played through our stories are humans, objects, and setting transformations. In many of our stories characters transform. This is one main topic of transitions. In our short little essay “Sleep Paralysis” one girl had a transformation. She kept having episodes of sleep paralysis. It was getting out of control. She then found someone with similar problems and she researched it, and after she learned about it the episodes started slowly going away. Another example of human transformations was in the story “Fall of the House of Usher”. Rodrick Usher had some transformations. He was a sick ill boy. Again using the sleep paralysis essay, there was a setting transformation. The girl explains how its dark around and all your muscles are tense and you cannot move. She then has a transformation where it doesn’t occur anymore. In “Photo 1” there was a huge transformation. We have many people on earth and in the picture there is only one kid.
