Over the last decades, the policing system of the United States have been creating new techniques to respond quickly regarding to emergency calls from U.S. citizens. The reason that policing is creating different techniques is because they want to simply response to the main concern of every call. There are different and similar police strategies that every model has done over the years in order to respond to any types of crimes. The models in policing are the traditional, problem-oriented, community and the order maintenance. The importance of policing is to understand the most serious criminals and figure out a way to prevent future crimes. One main difference in which both of them have is the motorized patrolling because it has been in conflict to the way both agencies handle the job and duties. There have been studies in which both of them are contrasted. According to the article the inchoate nature of community policing the similarities between both models are that “community policing officers and traditional patrol officers on a number of outcome variables, including police style, job satisfaction, and the influence of assignment on job-related perceptions and attitudes (William, 2006, Pg. 580).” Nonetheless, the community policing style has had dissatisfactions with the way they perform their duties and have had a failure to the community; therefore, their goal is to increase their job satisfaction. In the article excellence in problem-oriented policing it stated “researchers and practitioners have focused on the evaluation of problems, the importance of solid analysis, the development of pragmatic responses, and the need to strategically engage other resources (Goldstein, 2001, Pg. 3).” The problem-oriented policing have been among discussions regarding the way they respond to crimes and techniques to prevent it. Lastly, the order maintenance model focus more on the nature issues such as vandalism or any types of drug dealing. Their main goal is to reduce crime and maintain order in the community. This is the police who might use aggressive force on serious crimes. According to the article procedural justice and order maintenance policing it is stated that the “policing strategies are suppose to send a particular message to active and potential law-breakers, but it is not all clear whether or how that message is being received by its intended recipients (Jacinta G., Brunson, R., 2009, Pg. 257).” Order maintenance simply is the most aggressive model in which they have tried to
