The movie, Mulan, shows some significant changes in the traditional gender roles. Also throughout this analysis, I will be keeping in mind the culture of china during this time frame. In the beginning, Mulan is seen as a dishonor to her family, first, she brings dishonor by failing to impress her match maker. As it is seen throughout the movie, it shows that women are not allowed to speak in the presence of men, as well as speaking to them in a way that degrades the men. This is another way that, Mulan brings dishonor to her family. Then, Mulan makes a change in her life by deciding to take her father’s place in the army.
