Should Technology be included in the classroom?

When the global economy drives schools to be more competitive with technology and

learning in the classroom, technology can change the way teachers teach and diverse students

learn.

Chalkboards and textbooks have been used to teach, now distance learning, e-learning and

virtual schools are the new wave of the future.

Many beneficial factors of technologies and learning including the NCLB Act (students with

disability realize their potential), increases interest, benefits society, and the diverse students

can have access to better schooling - that curriculum is not just one size fits all, it will meet all …show more content…

The teacher’s role is changing from standing in front of the room lecturing to being on the

sidelines mentoring students instead.

Technology education will help students become creative information seekers, problem

solvers, communicators, analyzers, surveyors, and decision makers, and good residents of the

community.

What will technology bring to diverse students in the future? Will it improve or hinder

education?

History-Time Line

Chalkboard 1890- 19th century- (When a teacher out of space, they had to erase and start all

over. This was a way for teachers to share information wit the whole class).

Film Strip 1925-1980 (Audio and Video).

BF Skinner teaching machine-1957 (This machine issue a standardized question, and dispensed

a candy for correct answers).

Overhead Projector-1960 (This improved the chalkboard allowed teachers to reuse printed

transparent films. Teachers can write on the film while teaching the class).

PBS-Educational Shows-1970 (Education TV, such as Sesame Street).

Scantrons-1972 (Machine imaging technology to read multiple choice answer sheets
