Should Technology be included in the classroom?
When the global economy drives schools to be more competitive with technology and
learning in the classroom, technology can change the way teachers teach and diverse students
learn.
Chalkboards and textbooks have been used to teach, now distance learning, e-learning and

The teacher’s role is changing from standing in front of the room lecturing to being on the
sidelines mentoring students instead.

As technologies such as cellular phones and computers advance, they are becoming an important and permanent part of society. Today’s youth are growing up in an information age, and many school districts are beginning to consider whether or not the incorporation of technology would be beneficial. However, in the ongoing debates, school officials should consider the potential for technology to distract students, as well as its potential to destroy societal traditions, over the benefits it could provide.
My role in the classroom during this observation is not to be a participant, but a witness to how one teacher manages a class by herself.
Based on what I have read, technology effectiveness is a highly debated and argued topic among educators. There are many myths and misconceptions that even I myself have argued about technology use. For example, I always assumed that because I was a young, new teacher and used technology that most teachers who used technology were new and young like me. According to the article Research dispels common ed-tech myths, this idea is not the case. Veteran teachers are just as likely to use technology as new, young teachers (eSchool News Staff, 2010). A 2009 survey by Grundwald associates, found that as many as 34% of teachers were infrequent technology users compared to 22% who claimed that they used technology frequently, more than a third of their class time. This number is astounding to me. The research in this article seems to argue that even among those who do use technology in the classroom, many use it for tasks such as email, word processing, or games. Very few classrooms seem to be using the technology for actual learning and teaching.
Schools use too much technology. The kids are on electronics all day, which is addicting and bad for your health, just like drugs and alcohol. It can be very beneficial to take a break from electronics.
In the classrooms today, teachers are integrating more modern technology devices on a daily basis, such as iPad 's, laptops and interactive overheads. Living in the 21st century, our world revolves around technology and electronics. Almost everybody has a smartphone, laptop, and a television. People of my generation would find it hard to live without some form of technology or electronic device. So why is it such a controversial idea to use technology in a school setting? Currently I work at a daycare and have been working in the industry since I was a sophomore in high school. I have seen preschoolers fight over our classroom computer and beg parents for their phones or personal iPads when they get picked. Younger generations are starting to use technology and some kindergarten classes have made most of their curriculum electronically. Technology is an amazing concept and has benefited us in many ways. Personally I didn’t get the privilege to consistently use a computer until I was in the third grade.

When most people think of an early childhood classroom they think of children roaming around and all around them toys, lots and lots of toys.
