'To Kill a Mockingbird' is a fiction American novel published in 1960. The novel is written by the award winning author, Harper Lee. The novel is loosely based on the author, Harper Lee's past. The main characters in the novel are Scout, Jem, Atticus, Dill, Tom, Calpurnia, Mayella and Boo. The novel is written in a first person perspective of adult Scout who recalls her past as a six year old child. 'To Kill a Mockingbird' contains many themes, one of the major theme is 'The Coexistence of Good and Evil'. The theme is expressed majorly through the plot and characters.

The novel, 'To Kill the Mockingbird' is set during the Great Depression in a fictional town of Maycomb County, Southern Alabama, USA; the county is described as a slow-paced, hot and wet place, where living wouldn’t seem much of a great thing at the time. Jean Louise Finch, also known as Scout to her close ones, lives with her elder brother Jem and her father, Atticus Finch. Atticus is a middle-aged prominent lawyer who is a widowed.
One Summer, Scout and Jem befriended with a boy Dill who visits to stay with his aunt every Summer.
