More Than Football Many people have impacted the state of Colorado in positive ways, but one in particular named Tim Richard Tebow has had a profound effect on our great state. This influential man was born on August 14, 1987. He was born in the Philippines, more specifically, Makati city. Tim’s parents, Pamela and Robert, married in 1971. They moved to Portland and shortly thereafter they relocated to northeast Florida. Soon after the family would move to Manila for missions work and there Pam and Robert gave birth to their fifth child and third boy Timothy. Timothy lived in Manila until he was three, but the family returned to Florida before he turned four. The Tebows took mission trips back to Manila often. His family’s influence has no doubt had a profound impact on his life’s work. Tebow often preached in high schools and other public places as a part of his missionary efforts. Athletics was always a major part of Tim’s life. As young as five years old, Tim was very eager to play organized sports like his older brothers did. Tim Tebow put on a show for Florida Gators fans in 2007 and won the Heisman trophy, beating out guys like Darren McFadden and Chase Daniel. Just to top it all off, Tim won the Davey O’Brien award for the most outstanding quarterback in the nation. Tim Tebow also was the first and only player in FBS history to rush and pass for 20 touchdowns in both categories. In 2010, Tebow entered the NFL draft with high hopes and once again was blessed to be chosen by the Denver Broncos in the first round (25th) pick.
