On the Friday afternoon, Bailey Moran came home from school looking unusually sad. Earlier that day, she was embarrassed in front of the whole class, when her teacher found out that the story she told was not completely original. Though she knew her English teacher was very strict, she had taken the liberty of borrowing a few ideas from the internet. She silently cursed herself for being imbecile. When her teacher warned her of the severe consequences, she had begged her for an another chance. Weekend ahead was a great chance for her to come up with a compelling story. Her parents were all set to begin their journey. Bailey cancelled her plans of accompanying her parents to Dallas for the weekend. She had asked them to drop her at the grandparents' ranch near Waco. She needed some muse to write a story. Instead of letting her humiliating experience linger any longer, she had determined to channelize that into an inspiration. During the drive from Austin to Waco, she was constantly looking out for the spurt of creativity. She made a few notes about the trac and vehicles on the highway. The grandparents were excited to see Bailey and her new pet bunny. She named him as Fambi. In order to protect her Fambi from the Blue Heeler, her grandfather had to put the dog in a cage for the weekend. After exchanging the pleasantries, Bailey's parents drove o . She did not attempt to write anything that evening. She had fun talking with her grandparents and went to bed. She was up early on the Saturday morning. She brought her Fambi outside and gave him some toys to play. It just sat on the oor, looking at her, rather than playing. She felt sad. She grasped Fambi's aloofness coping with new places. Her grandparents came rushing, hearing the sound and terri ed to see the handicapped and intimidated snake crawling towards the shoe shelf looking for a place to hide. It's beastly act terrorized the poor rabbit. It was lying there with its drooped face, trembling. She took him in her hands, ran her ngers all over his strained body to make him feel that it was safe. After seeing her face, it seemed bit happy. Her grandpa brought his gun and shot the snake twice in its' head saying Don't mess with my babies." The fact that the helpless bunny was saved from the snake was exhilarating for her. The next day she connected all these events and wrote a story titled A Weekend at the Ranch. When she read it out in the class, she got a rewarding appreciation from her teacher and classmates as well. 4
