The Winter Dance Concert is a collaborative collection of choreographic work by Ohio University Dance Division faculty and guest artists and was performed by Dance Division students. All the performances were live examples to the modern dance that Nathan Andary talked about in the class. There were six performances and each performance show a different way of moving the body. The dance concert represented variety ways of presenting vocabulary by the body movement and people's emotional expressions. Some of these dances featured special musical commissions, and some featured live music. Modern dance is really great art that associated with people sending a story or a message or either expressing mood to the audience. I would highlight and give my opinion for two dance performances that I liked the most. The first one is The Seasonings: Falling, Wintering, Springing, Summering dance. I liked the way they represented the four seasons by using lightning and costumes designs in each season. For instance, they used an orange background and wear casual in the Fall. Furthermore, they also used white, pink, blue with sun image backgrounds for representing Winter, Spring, and Summer. As well as they were wearing different costumes that are related into which season that was. For example, they wear gloves to represent winter time and casual clothes to represent fall time. The second dance is If you knew me, the real me, you would find me unlovable. I think there was a mystery the dancers were first working individually, and some are in groups. They all looked scared or tired and trying to get help from others, but no one would help. I felt this dance is showing that almost all people have a different personality than what others think about them and how they care about their personal interest without caring about other people who really in need for that same …show more content…

They archived a perfect design and costumes aspects. The lightning of the stage was directed perfectly and the costumes for the dancers was chosen in a great taste to fit the story. The dancers did a great job in communicating the way they act with their body movements and face expression fit the subject they were trying to send for the audience. And finally, I think after Mr. Andary gave us the background about the modern dance; I was ready to attend the concert and gave my overall viewpoint of the dances. I think would not understand anything if I did not get the idea behind Modern Dance
