The first example on how the children over rely on technology is when George turned off the nursery because he thought the nursery was a bad influence on their children. The author wrote "The two children were in hysterics. They screamed and pranced and threw things. They yelled and sobbed and swore and jumped at the furniture. This is showing how the children rely on technology too much. I can relate to this because my dad took away my laptop and i didn't like that one bit i was begging and begging to give it back and finally convinced my mom to give it back.I heg just like how the children convinced their parents to turn the nursery back on. It is easier for a parent to hand their child an iPad rather than to teach them singlehandedly. So again I say that the blame is not necessarily the technology but rather the parents fault for allowing the technology to take ahold of a young child’s developing mind.
In the story “The Children Couldn’t Wait” by Tomas Rivera, he speaks of a family that is working, and can’t get water whenever they want. They have to wait for their boss to come back to ranch in order to get some water to drink. Which that lead to a dramatic cause. Also in the story “Unknown” the family is poor and doesn’t have enough money for many things. In order to get them, they go to school because they know that it will give them a better future. The theme for this is “ Hard work is the price we must pay for success.” For me this felt like a story taught me to keep working hard because no matter how hard you work, you will get paid back with a positive. action.
Another claim that could be interpreted from the story is that technology is actually good for the kids. The technology was meant to make life easier, so their family could spend more time together. The house did everything for them so they would have more time to themselves. The article that I am discussing is "Raising the Screen Generation" by Martha Pickerill. The topic of this article is the increase in the amount of screen technology that children consume. The population that is directly impacted by this issue are children in ant socioeconomic status, but parents are also affected. In the story “The Veldt,” the author Bradbury shows that technology has caused people to become dependent on it. Children these days are using iPads, iPhones, and other various types of technology for constantly checking social media or texting friends. That is causing children these days to become more dependent on technology where they are not able to live for a second without it. Can you imagine how children do not seem to have any problems in learning how technology works now? It happens that almost every kid has their own laptop, cell phone, iPads or any other electronic devices. Who does not want to live in this world where doing homeworks and making your job much easier, right? Having a dependence on technology is like having an addiction to a drug. One relies on it to make them feel a certain way but it can totally change one’s emotions, feelings, actions and personality. Being dependent on technology can make one more agitated and lazy because the one might feel that they are not expected to do a regular task because they have machines to do them for them. One day I had my phone taken away. In today’s society we are overwhelmed with technology. Technology is changing everyday, and will forever be a staple in our lives. The effect that technology has on our children has brought on some concerns and some praises. Children these days have no choice but to some how be influenced by the ever growing technology in our societies. Our common concern has been that although digital technology has boosted children’s talent for multitasking, their ability to process information deeply may be deteriorating (Carpenter, 2010). Many people have a wide range of opinions on if technology is having a positive influence on our children or a negative, there is a vast amount of evidence to support both of these arguments. Technology can refer to so many things, but there are three main parts of technology that are having the greatest effects on our children: video games, television/media, and computers. The modern technologies we have today are so powerful because they attract our genetic biases, that the human brain has a tremendous love for visually presented information. Video games, television, movies and computer programs are all very visually oriented and therefore they attract and keep the attention of children easily.
Children and young adults, especially high school students have very fulfilled lives( jobs, sports, friends, etc.).
