The Story of Yasmin – 1989 +

As the years elapsed, the room the two sisters had shared upstairs of their old wooden farmhouse, had gained a different status in Eva's mind. It became the precious object of memories, where private conversations and dreams were once revealed. Eva gazed with nostalgia at a faded color portrait of the smiling faces of the two sisters.

As adolescents they had been complicit in following the intrepid adventures of Don Quixote de la Mancha and his sidekick, Sancho Penza, as they read of their travels around the world in their failed efforts to revive chivalry. It made them wonder at what the world might be like outside their village. They read Lolita in Spanish, trying to imagine the magnitude of a man's love. They read The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie in Spanish, and asked themselves who would betray them in life? They delighter in the exploits of Doña Barbara, and wondered if it were possible to hate that deeply. All these questions would be answered in their lifetime.

Eva was older by three years. She had long unruly black hair amid delicate features, and a retreating smile. Shy and quiet, and as fragile looking as fine porcelain, but her personality collided with a resiliency and inner strength that betrayed her delicate look

Yasmin was spirited and impulsive, but her most notable attribute was her exceptional beauty. Her chaste countenance had so enchanted the local artists that they copied her face in the paintings of the little virgins they sold at street corners. She didn't resemble either of her parents or even her sister Eva, although she had inherited her grandmother's remarkable eyes and creamy complexion. ...ppening, Tano was expertly deflowering the girl, who until now had been a virgin, fully expecting to marry her childhood sweetheart. Tano was experienced at this, and knew exactly how to keep her mind at ease.

“Now, that wasn't so bad, was it, mi reina?' Tano said looking at her.
What have you done to me?” she screamed in a panic.
"Calm down! I don’t remember forcing you.”
“Get away from me!”
She raised her arm to slap his face, but he held it before it hit its target.

He knew she was worried, angry, and euphoric all at the same time. It wasn't the first time he had deflowered a virgin. His cynical attitude found her stupid and uninteresting. How could she have been so gullible? Yet he couldn't deny he had been touched by her beauty and by the way she had yielded to him so easily. This girl wasn't coy, she was real, and she was going to enjoy her pleasures.
