The French and Indian War led to the Parliament taxing and creating Acts against us because of the large debt the war caused. George Grenville, he was the British Treasury Minister he was a nasty man that no colonist perfered. Grenville felt that we should pay for The French and Indian War, that taxes on colonists were justified and England should exert control over the Colonies. He was the reason why Parliament started taxing us. Everyday I wake up and the Parliament creates a new Act to furthermore our hate for them. There has been so many Acts day after day that keep on hurting us colonists. The first one was the Sugar Act where the Parliament raised taxes on imported sugar. The Stamp Act put taxes on paper based items and a few not. Such as legal documents, newspapers, cards,dice,etc.. Everyday objects they know we use! They know playing cards are an asset and are common in households. We absolutely hate the Stamp Act because they are taxing us without our approval. The Stamp Act caused us to unite and unify to later create the Stamp Act Congress. Then the Quartering Act!! The Quartering Act required colonists to provide the British soldiers with food, shelter and supplies to tide them while they were in the area. We hate the Quartering Qct because we already have a shortage of food and supplies. Also it is an invasion of our privacy. While the Parliament felt it was justified and did not understand why we were protesting when the soldiers were the ones that were there to protect us. We did what we need and finaly got the Stam Act repealed but the same day the Stamp Act was repealed they came out with the Declaratory Act. This act stated that the Parliament had the right to rule and tax the colonist as they wished. We disagreed with all of these acts mostly because they were putting these taxes on us without our consentment. We have no representation in the Parliament and it is unfair. We came up with the slogan “No taxation without representation” We are becoming more and more separated from England because of the action they are
