Schools are where we spend half of our lives at, our kids are spending time and energy in these places to become better people in the future. There is absolutely no reason why budget cuts should ever happen in a school. If the country is taking taxes from all of the citizens than they should be conscious to spend that money on things that matter like our children. Making budget cuts takes away programs for kids to excel in and makes a child harder to express himself. Arts are usually the first programs to be cut. In her essay “The Sanctuary Of School” Barry elaborates on her problems going on at home and talks about how going to school is her sanctuary because it allows her to get away from all of her worries. She finds sanctuary, thanks to her teachers that are helping her go through her problems with art. If budget cuts were to come in and take that art teacher away would that mean her sanctuary would be destroyed. Although cuts have to happen they don't necessarily need to happen at schools, schools should never be making budget cuts when there's so many other things we can cut. Military equipment for example can be cut we just launched fifty missiles into our “enemies” missiles averaging out to a cost of millions of dollars. There is no reason why schools should be cutting programs just so we have other things like military weapons being funded.
Budget cuts are a menace to schools and children it limits potential and closes the gate around the arts not allowing our children to experience everything they can. School should be place where our children can learn be creative and have fun, they should be enjoying their stay. Just like Barry it should be a sanctuary that allows them to forget all the problems at home and have fun in
