In the story Of Mice and Men some of the characters in this novella share friendship and some don’t throughout the story. The big question is how do all the characters look at friendship in this novella ? Well there are many perspectives of friendship in this story. In Chapter three, Slim said something along lines of: “Why does it seem like everyone is afraid to travel together”, (Steinbeck 20). Slim was referring to this as a question to George because George traveled with his best friend, Lennie. Throughout the story Slim has an interesting attitude about friendship. The reason why I think this because he is so curious about why no body has no one to travel and work with, but then again Slim works by himself and is highly respected of his working Peer’s. Carlson took Candy’s old dog outside, and with Candy’s permission he just killed something he was attached to that fast. That really shows you that they don’t really care about friendship because they have no feelings and that they don’t care about how they would let go something so close that fast.
