Robert Kennedy Assassination Assassination is a strong word with a powerful meaning. Assassination is defined as to kill suddenly or secretively, especially a politically prominent person; murder premeditatedly and treacherously. Assassinations and attempts have occurred throughout history. The victim is sometimes aware or unaware about their dangerous situation but is either guarded or unguarded. The assassin must have qualities of being determined, courage and intelligence to make the mission successful. Assassination is a long process of planning. It can take even years just to plan an assassination of a victim. Often times, assassination planning cannot be on paper because it can be evidence. The most common ways of assassination are using weapons, drugs, accidents and explosives. Surprisingly, the most common way of assassination is by gun. There can be many motives for assassination such as jealousy, political or religious ideas, revenge and etc. There are many famous assassinations. The assassination of Julius Caesar is very famous. Julius Caesar was Roman political figure, who was later was made the dictator of Rome, that was assassinated by the Senators. Martin Luther King Jr. was the main figure behind the civil rights movement. He was assassinated by James Earl Ray . Alexander Litvinenko was a Russian KBG agent that was assassinated by exposure of radioactive polonium in his sushi at a restaurant. Many say that the Russian government was behind this assassination. “When the 25% success rate of assassination attempts is taken into account, the authors find that a policy of assassination attempts in autocratic nations produces at best only a modest increase in the probability of a move to democracy.” (Olken) The ass... ... middle of paper ... ... He was first employed as a stable boy who exercised horses at a racetrack until he got into an accident in 1966. Before Robert Kennedy’s assassination, Sirhan had a diary that was discovered later on. It contained many phrases such as “RFK must die.” and “Robert Kennedy must be assassinated.” There was also one that said “R.F.K. must be assassinated before 5 June 1968.” Sirhan had seen psychiatrists in the past. “Psychiatrists determined that he was highly susceptible to hypnosis, and may have produced his strange writings while in a trance.” (Bradford) Sirhan also has said that he has no memory of the writings in his diary or any of the events that occurred on June 5, 1968 at the Ambassador hotel.
