Surah Luqman, Chapter 31 of the Qur’an,is indeed one of the great surahs to extract lessons from. It is named after a wise man who was not a prophet, but was granted great wisdom from Allah (s.w.t) and was very beloved to Allah (s.w.t). Allah says about Luqman "And certainly We gave wisdom to Luqman, saying: Be grateful to Allah. And whoever is grateful, he is only grateful for his own soul; and whoever is ungrateful, then surely Allah is Self-sufficient, Praised. ". In the following, I’ll be explaining some of the lessons that are told in this surah.

The first lesson to be learned in this surah is not to associate partners with Allah (s.w.t). “And (remember) when Luqmân said to his son when he was advising him: "O my son! Join not in worship others with Allâh. Verily! Joining others in worship with Allâh is a great Zûlm (wrong) indeed.” As a muslim, the first thing that is taught is tawheed, or the oneness of Allah.
