Sports Education is a curriculum and instruction model designed for delivery in physical education programs at the upper elementary, middle school, and high school levels. In Sports Education there are so many ways to get all of your students involved instead of just one way in a typical physical education class. There are 5 main characteristics of Sports Education that you will want to be aware of. Sports Education involves seasons, not units. Typically in a PE class you have units, and in each unit you are doing a certain activity or skill that you are learning and practicing. But, in Sports Education you use seasons just like if you were on a sports team, it makes it more realistic. At the end of each season there is a major event. Some of the pros being that the students learn leadership skills. A lot of Sports Education is the student running it. With having captains and coaches, the students are in charge, they run the practices; make the starting lineups, etc. It teaches them how to lead in certain situations and be responsible when given tasks so their team can be successful. Also, all the students participate. A big problem in PE now is kids not participating, most of the time it is because they aren’t athletic and don’t want to embarrass themselves. But with Sports Education, even someone who isn’t athletic can still be involved without actually playing the sport. Someone who may be better at taking charge and organizing can be graded on that instead of their skills in the sport they are playing that season. It also gives students knowledge on the sport that they might not have had in the past. But finally, it is a positive environment. Everyone is involved and no one is worried about not being good at something because there is something for everyone to

Typically, the average day of a high school student consists of seven long hours of school; followed by an extracurricular activity. According to the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS), as of 2014, there was a record high of nearly 7.8 million high school student athletes in the United States. Two experienced authors from The New York Times have contrasting views on athletics in schools. Amanda Ripley, the author of The New York Times bestseller, The Smartest Kids in the World, argues that sports should definitely be removed from high schools across the country. On the other hand, Donte Stallworth, former NFL player, is determined to keep children involved with sports. The main focal point for both Ripley and Stallworth
The early beliefs for the reason of sports, was that learning should encompass both body and mind. This then was translated into the belief that sports build character, which then led to sports being positive in all circumstances. While this is not completely true sports develop people in many ways still, some people saying that “sports make me what I am today.” While it is impossible to prove exactly the way each individual takes in sports, it is seen that overall it has some positive effect. Sports are a tool of developing and instead of it being a choice between sports and academics, the real answer is both and that they work together to constantly develop quality generations of
In the past years, high school athletes have been tested for performing enhance drugs. Many have tested positive and it has become a problem. In my opinion every high school athlete should be tested. It cause health problems in the future reference. Professional teams aren't going to accept them if do take performance enhancing drugs. They should be tested for the safety of themselves.

I believe that in middle school, it is a necessity for kids to be involved in extracurricular sports to learn knew skills that they can apply on and off the field. Due to budget cuts, more and more schools have had to cut extracurricular sports. I know that I want sports to come back and so do many kids in middle school. Sports will benefit your health and many other aspects that help you become successful.
It will encourage students to try their best to accomplish superior grades. It opens their eyes in a different perspective on behavior as well as stronger scholastic peer relationships. It gives students activities excluding school work, because teenagers generally focus their mind on unacceptable actions. Parents commonly show passion along with appreciation when their child/children play a sport. They get to have a closer relationship and be elaborate with them more often than normal. Frequently, students do not care about their reputation or acknowledge the adults’ opinions on themselves; but in my opinion, playing sports and being mostly involved with their schools presents an improved character while in school and once they graduate. I was once told that “Sports do not build character. They reveal it.” Additionally, self-esteem in high school is hard to come by, occasionally sports help! Sports cause you to interact with other people and uplift you to do better. It presents a sharpened perspective on your schoolwork, career, future, and life altogether. In some cases, playing a sport can benefit you in an enhanced form. Scholarships can be a broad opportunity for valuable players with a good education on their shoulders. As well as, college recruitment can be another option. Money is hard to come by for college and if that seems to be a struggle for a student playing a sport can help tremendously. That
A physical education program must include three domains: cognitive, psychomotor and affective ways of learning. In the cognitive domain, students will learn information of how to keep themselves physically fit and how to live long and healthy lives. In the psychomotor domain, students will meet fitness standards and develop the proper skills to participate in all movements patterns through physical activities. In the affective domain, students will be taught how to work with and respect one another while participating in physical activity. They will also learn values through this domain such as, being on time to class, dressing properly, and learning what work ethic is through physical activity instead of just going through the motions. In order for a successful physical education curriculum to be implemented these three domains must be evident on a daily basis through the use of objectives. Now that Physical Education has been defined, it is important that I discuss why it is necessary for all
Many would disagree with me and say that high school sports actually have more benefits than negativities for a student. For example a student in sports would be more active which would make them fitter and healthier. A student that in a team sport would make more friends which would improve their social skills and increase their
Sports programs have been an integral part of all schools. They support the academics of the school and therefore foster success in life. These programs are educational and help produce productive citizenship. They help students experience and build skills that may help them in their future, like interpersonal and time management skills. Education may kindle the light of knowledge, but sports help to maintain the proper physique. Sports are also an important means of entertainment and a use for energy after long hours of study. Sports increase a student’s performance not only in the classroom but also in their life.
Physical Education isn’t based on just exercise. If anything, it’s students playing games more than doing actual exercise, but these games involve physical activity. For example, flag football, basketball, kickball, etc. Basically Physical Education is a fun way of doing physical activities.
Many life lessons can be taught through sports. Children can learn the importance of work ethic, working with others, perseverance, and the list goes on. There are studies that have shown that kids who are involved in athletics are more successful in the business world. It is only when parents turn the sporting events into an ultra-competitive requirement for their child that it can become detrimental. The lessons that sports teach kids about real life is one of the greatest benefits that can be gained from sports. Because so much can be learned through sports we need to make sure that we put focus on teaching lessons through sports rather than making it all about winning. It is a sad when parents turn a great beneficial thing into something that can be harmful for their children.
Physical education time is being cut in schools to give more time for students to focus on core courses such as Science, Math and Reading. Some districts have eliminated the course or do not even provide it. These courses, although are very important, should not take away from a student’s well-being. Physical education provides a foundation to a student’s future lifestyle and good health habits. Physical education should be treated like every other foundational course because it is a necessary part of a student’s lifestyle that will benefit from every day. Physical education provides: 1) a variation of motor skills aimed to enhance the physical, mental, social and emotional development, 2) an understanding to improve and maintain their physical well-being and 3) opportunities to advance developing social and cooperative skills while gaining a multi-cultural perspective.
Sport Education is physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs. It usually makes the kids want to be competitive with one another and it teaches them the importance of a winner and loser. This type of teaching method helps students learn how to play sports and gets them involved.
