Social networks
According to the definition of( Boyd & Elison:2007) social networks are web-based sites services that allows individuals to construct a semi- public profile within a bounded system and articulates a list of other users with whom they share a connection view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system.Social network websites like MySpace and Facebook have exploded in popularity in recent years, with users numbering in the hundreds of millions (Kornblum, 2006: Newland: 2007). According to comScore (2008), visitors to social network websites have grown 34% in the past year to 530 million visits, which represent two out of every three internet users. Millions of people have joined social networking sites, adding profiles that reveal personal information. The reputations of social networking sites has been diminished by a number of incidents publicized by the news media (Chiaramonte & Martinez:2006)
Face book
According to (Mcclard:2008) Facebook is a popular free social networking website that allows register users to create profile, upload pictures and videos, send messages and keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues. It is an application platform on which the interaction between individuals through applications creates the content (collective). This application allows members to present profile of them to recruit “friends” to be a part of their social network and to search for individuals with active profiles. With these application among others things, one may interact with friends by virtually “biting”, “poking”, “hugging”, “kissing” or sending a “gift” or “drink”. Instant messaging
Instant messages (IM) short form refers to the transfer of messages between users in near real time. These instant messages are usually but not required to be short. Instant messages are often used in a conversational mode that is, the transfer of messages back and forth is fast enough for participants to maintain an interactive conversation (Campbell,et, al: 2002). Generally the messages that are exchanged are not stored, but this not also is the case. Instant messages differ from email in common usage in that; instant messages are usually grouped together into brief live conversations, consisting of numerous small messages sent back and forth.
