There are many families living in the United States who would never consider the food they purchase and eat as an unhealthy. Just about everyone goes to their local grocery store, reads labels and searches for the right items to purchase and feed their families. As parents this is our job, yet what would happen if parents found out the food they were purchasing to sustain life was doing just the opposite. That is exactly what ultra processed food and drinks are doing, because they do not carry the vitamins and minerals needed to keep us healthy. The only thing processed food and drinks are designed to do is make us fat and vitamin and mineral deficient. This is why obesity grows within our children. Today, because of the unnatural food we consume, the obesity rate in our children is climbing at a steady and alarming rate. Processed foods have little or no nutritional value and are chemically altered to increase the appeal to your taste buds, which means they are also overriding your body’s signals that would otherwise tell you it is time to stop eating. These foods are also loaded with additives, which are extremely harmful to your body. One of these additives is, fructose the number one source of calories in the US and a chemical that diminishes your feeling of being full. Another additive is genetically modified ingredients (GMO), which are linked to serious health problems. The last additive I am going to mention is monosodium glutamate (MSG), a flavor enhancer that helps even spoiled food taste fresh.
