While reading the article about killer robots, there were many thoughts running through my head. I thought to myself, using these killer robots can be both ethical and unethical. Both sides has its many advantages as well as its disadvantages. One of the principles that make these killer robots ethical in our society is that these robots are a lot more tenacious and more capable of resisting damage than any human being ever could. Therefore, they have a greater chance of surviving in a dangerous environment. Using a soldier robot means actually doing jobs that may be dangerous and difficult for a soldier. During war there are unfortunately many soldiers that get hurt due to the fact that soldiers sometimes are basically sent to almost-suicidal missions. Soldier robots are more likely to survive any type of damage than a human can, and most of the times they complete every mission. Using soldier robots are definitely a plus because they can be built and programmed to carry out a certain task or mission and will do it way better than any human would. A soldier robot can make all the difference between winning a war and losing a war. On the other hand, once a human is shot down, that can either lead to severe injury or even death. With that being said, the first concept that relates to the article is empathy. Rothwell defines empathy as “thinking and feeling what you perceive another to be thinking and feeling”(p.28). We as a nation should empathize with those soldiers being sent out to fight for our country. They have families and friends just like us, they deserve to live life just like us. Therefore, I would agree that sending robots out into the field instead of human beings would be the ethical thing to do because robots are
