Immigration has been a key factor of the success of the United States from the start. More specifically, without the influence of immigrants our country would not be the place that it is today. There is, however, great controversy surrounding the idea that immigration, whether legal or illegal, should be accepted or denied. Since the beginning of time, immigration has played a large role in the history of the United States. Immigration to the U.S. has been a popular desire since before the world wars (Archiv 141). There are two sides to this specific factor but really both benefit the United States. In the United States there are many jobs that require intense labor or do not pay enough, therefore the jobs do not get fullfilled. This hurts the U.S. because there is no one to get the job done. However, when immigrants get to our country they will often take what ever job that they can find. They will also work for less than an American would get paid. Without influences of food from other countries, our plating would be rather dull. America is not a very healthy country either, so we benefit from studies on other countries food intake. Our country is known as "The Melting Pot" for a reason. We do have a great desire for entertainment. Other countries also provide us with many sources of entertainment. The America that we know today is filled with cultural influences, whether we realize it or not. Things such as food and entertainment are major contributers to our daily lives. Many of the dishes that we eat are that of Italian or Mexican origin. Many of the t.v. and music icons of today are British or Asian. For example, Adele has made her singing career quite a success in America though she is from England. If we did not have any cultural diversity, we would miss out on what the rest of the world has to offer us. As one can see, the United States is an important place of diversity and multiculturalism. Without immigration it would not be the place that it is today. The United States is dependent on immigration to help it flourish. Jobs that would normally not be filled, are filled and for less pay. Immigrants are passionate about what they do and want to have a better life. If we continue to allow them to come live in America, we will continue to see a positive cultural
