No matter how many struggles are going on around the world about equality, it will never seize to exist completely. There will always be someone who has more power and more benefits in life than another person. Take the workplace for instance, there always has to be someone in charge, and the higher you are in terms of titles, the more advantages you get and the more that people will listen to you. The theory of Marxism explains it all. People may say they work with a team, but at the end of the day, there is constantly someone who has more of a say, and the final say as well. In the documentary Kembrew McLeod stated that he had copyrighted the phrase “Freedom of Expression.” Later on, he had found out that a certain phone company was using that phrase as part of their advertisements. McLeod then went on to sue the company and was rewarded with them removing the slogan. Freedom of Expression is a documentary that deals with the issues and laws of copyright, and the restrictions that have come forth these laws. That is when the copyright law came out and changed the way media was distributed from then on until the future. After Disney revolutionized the way media works, things simply got harder and harder for the independent creators. Another form of Marxism theory, with the copyright law in full control over what happens to its media, anyone and everyone had the right to put their work under the protection of the law, to make sure that no one could use it without their notice or permission, thus the irony of the title of the documentary Freedom of Expression. There is no freedom of expression, because for that to happen, media cannot be restricted. In conclusion, the Marxism theory is all around us. No matter where or what the situation is, it is something that’ll never go away. It is a reflection of life and how things work all around us. From Murdoch and Fox News to Disney, and its creation of the copyright law, this theory applies to all aspects of work or life. The phrase Freedom of Expression is dead and gone. Freedom is something that seizes to exist anymore due to the amount of restrictions and laws that come forth to hold us all back from what we truly want to
