Principles of Democracy
In the United States government there are five different principles of democracy. Without these principles the government can become too powerful and the government can get away with a lot of things citizens can not get away with.
One of the Principles is Rule of Law. Rule of Law means that everyone including the government has to follow the laws of the constitution. This prevents the government from breaking the law without being accounted for. An example is that if a citizen steals an item from a store they will be punished. They could go to jail. If a State Senator did the same thing, with Rule of LAw, they would get the same punishment as the citizen.
