7,107 island, 3 major island division, and an archipelago—Philippines. The Philippines is rich with history and culture. From people to food, rich tales and history envelopes it. Thus, the history on how this country discovers and experience is no keep under wraps. However, the development of our political history is quite unclear or perhaps sometimes neglected. Discussing it could strengthen or helps us understood our political system. In this paper, we would discuss the development of Philippine government, on how it has undergone process from different aspects.

Filipinos started to revolt and created a form of government in the revolutionary era. The Katipunan government introduces the different saggunians— Kataas taasang sanggunian, sanggunian balanggay, saggunian bayan, and saggunian hukuman (Pansinos, n.d.)— In my perspective, this shows the division of the government. Moreover, multiple types of government were experienced by the Philippines. Some of these greatly affect our current government and political sphere. The smallest government unit is still the barangay, however, the monarchy type of government in which the place of the datu is passed by inheritance. On another hand, a lot of culture tradition were embedded by the Spanish but rather than that they influence us in creating provinces and cities in which led by government officials. Judiciary also one of the effects of the Spanish regime. After the Spanish regime, many things had changed and influenced our Philippine government. Some of them are having our first president, revising the constitutions. The 1987 constitution was the effect of people’s power.
