1. Inequality over the years has shifted and been defined in many ways as well as levels. The approach to which sociologists follow the patterns of the social unfairness is the population can be further explained in a categorical system. Sociologists analyze and measure the various types of inequality dwelling in the population for all groups.
When it comes to sociological research, Grusky and Weisshaar give specific layers or information about the four parameters of inequality and what they mean. These factors give common over views of the category in which the unfair distribution of goods and income are spread. An example of this is the fact that women are paid unjustly less than men even when they contain that exact same occupation at the same place of employment.
Rigidity is the degree to which some people are limited to one position that they can’t ever stray from. When it comes to the social classification with rigidity, it is categorized by the stability of the individuals that are a part of it (Grusky and Weisshaar page 3).
Ascriptive Processes is elaborated as the classification that every human being was given at birth. It is the categorized as the race, gender, class, and any other statuses present at birth that manipulate the way you stand socially as a person.
Crystallization is described as being the level to which the different elements of inequality go along with each other (Grusky and Weisshaar page 2). This parameter links the fact that prosperity and education will assist in the sturdy undeviating hold of a person’s life long status. If someone has very little to no schooling and comes from poor family it is to be expected that they will remain in the lower class for the rest of their life with no signs of moving to the upper class (Grusky and Weisshaar Page …show more content…

Due to the fact that women are paid less than the amount that men are, they will almost always naturally lack admission in to a higher status of overall wealth, ownership, and yearly earnings. Minorities such as Hispanics and Black people will also come up short with their economic assets. This is caused by the fact that minorities are paid less and usually don’t have jobs that pay a great amount. Also as previously mention in class, because there is a 50% unemployment rate present in the Black American male population, the lacking of economic assets is very much present.
