The film, The Notebook takes place in the late 1940s, in New Bern, North Carolina. The main couple of the movie are Noah Jr, and Allie Hamilton. Throughout the story the two have had a deep and intimate relationship. Allie’s family is very rich and well off however Noah is a poor mill worker. Noah leaves for World War II, which is when their relationship became complicated. Over the course of the story the two had a relationship “like no other,” even though they were separated they found their way back to each other. Allie and Noah have a passionate interpersonal relationship with one another. This is expressed in the film because even though Allie’s parent do not approve of her relationship she still wants Noah. After being separated for two years, when Noah returns home from war Allie realizes her feelings never faded for Noah. Even though Allie had moved on by getting married it was clear once she saw Noah, her heart wanted Noah. The first step in Allie and Noah tried to do was ignore the conflict of her parents not liking him. They still hung out, went on dates, and were happy with each other. However over the couple of weeks Allie’s parents became stricter telling Noah lies about Allie’s “school plans.” Finally Noah and Allie confronted the problem, which resolved with her parents allowing her to continue to see Noah even though they did not approve.
