Introduction: Hook: Social media has advanced drastically over the past decade with the rising of e-mail to vast social networking services. To this day many services such as Facebook have change the way people interact with each other. Background information: Mark Zuckerberg formed Facebook in 2004. Because of Zuckerberg’s idea, people now have a way to stay connected with friends and family. Facebook is known as a mass online social networking service and is one of the most successful examples of social media. Social Media is a form of communicating and interconnecting with people through the Internet. Thesis: Social media changes the way people interact with each other by offering more convenience but less quality. With social media, it is quicker and simpler to contact people, while easier to meet new individuals as well. Ultimately, however, social media provides people with interpersonal skills, a lack of conflict resolution and very little privacy. Consequently, social media diminishes the constitution of social interaction for the modern generations. Body Paragraph One: Topic Sentence: Thanks to social media, it is quicker to assess people’s information, to communicate with one another and expand your friendship through many activities while getting to know each other. Proof/Examples: With social media such as Facebook, communication has never been quicker. Social media allows instant communication with friends and family and provides up to date information also known as “statuses” while allowing us to find new individuals to meet. Facebook also makes it simple to contact people and provides many opportunities to form connections with new people. As a result of the ease of communication and connection with people that Facebook provides, it also becomes easier to communicate without developing interpersonal skills. With Facebook, users may also simply avoid problems and not develop necessary conflict resolution skills. Additionally Facebook provides little security as a consequence of its ease-of-access, no information is truly private. Summative Comments: Due to the increase of social media in society, communication has never been simpler but it has more downfalls then ever expected.
