Why are there always a great number of refugees? What and who causes such big issue? Refugees based on the definition of UNHCR are ”those who are afraid of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a special social group or political view, is outside the country of his/her nationality and is unable, or owing to such fear, is reluctant to avail himself or herself of the protection of that country.” Approximately fifteen million refugees have fled their homeland in 2015 in the hope that they can live somewhere with nothing to be afraid of. The recent research conducted by UN shows that Afghanistan and Syria are the two countries in the top of the high-ranked country with the most refugees. There are significant reasons for this amount of refugees across the world. Therefore, the factors that determine the major causes of the migration and refugees can be classified as a war, corruption and repression. Corruption, the abuse of power and position to achieve a personal benefit, is a widespread and growing problem in those countries that have refugees. Corruption always can play a vital role in refugee issue. For instance, Pakistan is a country with corruption in its system. Therefore, Pakistani people always complain that there are no sufficient jobs in the country and the limited available jobs are always given to the applicants who have a friend inside the government. So, in Pakistan, corruption has formed unemployment that makes most of the younger generation to flee the country. The example shows that there is a strong link between refugee crisis and unemployment which the product of corruption.
