“Almost 2.8 billion people are living in countries where identifying as gay could lead to imprisonment, corporal punishment or even death” (Kenneth Roth). Throughout history we have experienced countless advances as well as the introduction to different ideals, values, standards of living and advances in every field imaginable. Who does society owe all of its gratuity to? Amongst us, our loving lgbt community has patiently waited for its acceptance from people non alike. The lgbt community has without thought been discriminated on and not just because of their sexual preference but because of their uncommon values and beliefs. Our lgbt community has served in every area and has helped make the United States the great country it is today.

Throughout the undying struggles for true freedom, equality and rights lgbt members have so furiously fought for, our society has finally come to accept that no matter what one's values or beliefs are, that everyone deserves equal and proper treatment and that indifferences amongst people will forever exist even in the most extreme of ways. Many still hang on to one's ancient and traditional set of values and beliefs. Leaders from all fields including, celebrities, politicians, entrepreneurs. These leaders are everywhere to be seen. Individuals in which share the same code of honor as their comrades, leaders in which put their own security at stake for anyone in need. The lgbt community is everywhere and such an individual may be the one giving you a defining helping hand one day. The media controls many of people's values and beliefs and as said by vice president Joe Biden. “Vice President Joe Biden, who endorsed same sex marriage before in 2012 presidential election, cited the power of popular culture in helping facilitate the change”(William Douglas, Lesley Clark). People like Caitlyn Jenner, a celebrity which has shown to be a beacon of hope to those suffering to come out to the world as the person they really are. Caitlyn Jenner has has been of major influence and through her influence she has changed millions of mentalities on what acceptance in others and oneself really is. Ellen Degeneres a renowned talk show host that has attracted millions of viewers. Millions of viewers in which has gotten to know some of her personal life and her large audience deeply has come to appreciate her for who she is and that, the funny charming and smart personality has no relation with her sexual preference , Jim Kolbe a politician
