There is no doubt that the pyramids of Giza have truly deserved the title of “Wonder”. The pyramids are indeed a masterpiece built with high precision that can’t be constructed nowadays using the existing technology. There are three pyramids in “Giza/Egypt”: Khufu, Khafre and Menkaura. Khufu is the largest pyramid among the other two and thus known as the “The Great Pyramid of Giza”, with a height of 481 feet (147 meters). In fact, archaeologists declare that it was the tallest structure in the world for about 3, 800 years.
The great pyramid was approximately built on circa 2550 B.C. It was built for the purpose of occupying it as a tomb for the pharaoh Khufu. Khufu's vizier (minister), “Hemon” was considered to be the creative architect …show more content…

This decision was made following the findings that there was a sudden increase in the humidity percentage up to 80% inside the pyramid caused by the visitors. This is due to the fact that 20 grams of water is given out through breath and perspiration per visitor. As a result, the salts accumulate and leech to the plaster that covers some parts causing a severe damage. As a step of preservation of such an important historic structure, the restoration was conducted by the Department of Antiquities in Giza.
