Sports have become a big impact in many people’s lives because people see it as a relaxing activity that can take them away from problems. According to Wann et al. (2008, as cited in Mros, 2016), people choose a sport to be a getaway place for them because they are unsatisfying with some issues in their own lives. Therefore, this reason makes sports very famously and has created fans all over the world. As Xing (2008), said that sports fans can be classified and ranked on basis aspects and actions vividly consist their actions as an audience.
Therefore, sports fans can be differentiated into three groups according to their attitudes and behaviors, namely dedicated fans, bandwagon fans, and Gambling fans.
There are many sports fans around the world that are dedicated, passionate, and unwavering in their support of their favorite team. Those fans are called dedicated fans. Dedicated fans watch and pay attention to every game of their teams. Some of them try to go to as many games as they can to support their teams. For example, my former English teacher loves the New York Mets. He makes sure he watches every game regardless of the time. Another example is someone who may travel to watch their team. However, there are three big groups of sports fans that many people fit in. Some fans are considered as a dedicated fan who will do everything for their teams. Some of them are bandwagons fans who only support winning and famous teams. Lastly, gambling fans who are not a real fan of any teams, but they bet on everything in the games. This topic is vital because it shows that sports have become an impact in many people’s lives and there are many kinds of sports fans all over the world.
