Sexuality has become a controversial topic among psychologists and medical professionals of different countries. Some researchers says, “That sex and sexuality have become almost perversely definitional of who humans are at this historical moment is cause for both celebration and complaint.”(APA) Human sexuality plays a main role in everyone's life. Whether we are child or an adult, male or female, black or white, it is a vital part of what we do and who we are. The topic of sexuality has been closely examined in the following articles: “APA handbook of sexuality and psychology, Vol. 1: Person-based approaches,” “Sexuality education: Past, present, and future, Vol 1: History and foundations,” and “Thinking about students who do not Identify as gay, lesbian, or bisexual, but...” Also by examining each article and the circle of sexuality handout closely, it is easy for the reader to come to a clear understanding that sexuality is in fact a complex topic. To help educate readers on sexuality professors might use what we call “The Circles of Sexuality”. This diagram is made of five categories that interconnect circles representing five general areas of sexuality; which are sexual health & reproduction, sexualization, sensuality, intimacy, and sexual identity. In this illustration sexuality is represented as much more than sensual feelings or sexual intercourse. It includes all the emotional state, judgments and actions linked with being a certain gender, being attracted to someone, affectionate, being in relationships, intimacy, and etc. Sexual health and reproduction is when a person's capacity to reproduce and the behaviors and attitudes that makes sexual relationships healthy and enjoyable. While reading “Sexuality Now Embracing D... ... middle of paper ... ...believe the complete opposite. Blue is a boy color, don’t play with toy cars and trucks, and it’s okay to cry. These are environmental impacts that I was faced with and personally I think these are the worst because they put the most pressure on people. Another major impact growing up was cultural experience, this is a huge influence because growing up as a male everyone tells you get a girlfriend and live your life as a heterosexual, but as I said earlier your sexuality is a preference not a lifestyle and it doesn’t have to control your life. In conclusion, a range of forces and interests are involved in shaping human sexuality. Genetic, environmental, cultural, or religious values regarding sexuality, gender roles, the power measurements of humans, and intimate relationships, use powerful effects of how humans in our country make sexual and reproductive decisions.
