Recommended: Four effects of tourism on the environment

In 21st century, the ecology and environment become more and more important due to the pollution make by human. Human daily activity such as industrial, agriculture and tourism has increase the pollution level of ecology and environment. To maintain our ecology and environment, conservation should be implemented. There is two ways to conserve. One is through responsible tourism and the other is though ecotourism. What is responsible tourism? Responsible tourism defined as tourism which can provide a better experience for the tourist and a business chance for other party in order to make their life better through improvement of socio-economic benefit and natural resource management (Spenceley, Relly, Keyser, Warmeant, McKenzie, Mataboge, Norton, …show more content…

This mean that government also playing an important role in term of Responsible Tourism. Similarly, according to Spenceley, , responsible tourism is an approach which travellers, government bodies, tourism suppliers, and local authorities need to take action in sustainable development principle (as cited Farmaki, Constanti,Yiasemi and Karis, 2014, p.12). There are several role that play by government that are making tourism policies, ensure tourism industry runs smoothly according to the policies and market the industry (Gough, 2008, p137). (2002, p.56) state that tourism activities such as increased of water consumption has reduce water availability for human and ecosystem function. In order to conserve our environment and ecology, we should reduce the consumption of water. According to Farmaki et al. (2014, p.14), the CSTI and Travel Foundation had introduced a project to reduce the use of water and energy in hotel industry in year 2008. The CSTI has collaborate with the Hotel Associations to involve the hotel industry and help to perform the change in order to conserve energy and water. As the result can bring a win-win situation for both industry and environment. The action taken by CSTI should be an example to other industry especially tourism industry in the world.
