Internet Censorship Khalid, Y, Alshughaybi Teacher Christine Research Skills 26 May 2014 Parents censor the Internet from their children, Why do you think that?. With a click of a mouse, you can access a lot of information, mostly children. Sometimes an access is bounded and some contents of the Internet blocked or closed. That is Internet censorship. It is control information from being easy to reach it. Parents who wish to protect their children have to use intelligent filtering software that ensuring children are using trusted sites and resource, also deny them from accessing unappreciated sites (Dr.Brenda, n.d.). There are many reasons for parents to censor the information such as: protecting children from pornographic materials, Internet addiction, and social behavior. Parents believe that the Internet censorship is protecting our children from accessing pornographic material and harmful information. The visiting of sexually sites by 40% of Children is either on purpose or accidently (DeAngelis, 2007). With home Internet, 32% of parents use Internet filtering software to prevent children from watch dangerous sites. As we know, sometimes when they search on the Internet about a specific topic, they will get what they are looking for, but it may contain some bad pictures (Roberts). For example, it is too easy for children to search about sport’s picture, and they will see a few porn pictures appear. Also, these terms; toy, pet, woman, or girl will output many pornography sites That makes parents worry about children’s morality. So based on that parents who suffering from that bad materials, they can take a strong action to protect their children in... ... middle of paper ... ...or themselves and other people (Keung, n.d.). To sum up, The Internet is growing fast. It is an easiest way of communicating around the world. In addition, with minimal cost it can be spread huge amounts of information among people anywhere. This Information may contain good or bad contents. So, Parents who support the Internet censorship they interest to protect the morality of their children from pornographic materials, Internet addiction, and bad social behavior. Our children are the most important things in our life. They need our help, advice, and guide them to live in a right way. We should teach them how they have to think before click on any link. Finally, I will conclude with what Hillary Clinton said:” The Internet is not inherently good or bad -- it depends on who is using it and for what end” (" Clinton outlines new Net freedom policy", 2011).
