TASK 1 What is hope? Hope can for someone be a difficult subject to talk about. They might have lost hope or did not have any hope in their childhood. Some might also have a bad picture in their head perhaps from their childhood or when they had grown up about their parents of friends that they trusted, abused or misused their trust and hope. Maybe they had nothing or no one to give them hope or any sign of hope. If you look at Junior in the book, the only one that gave him hope was his grandmother. When she passed away, it sounded like Junior had lost all hope to this world and his family. His dad was an alcoholic, he did not get a real connection with his mother, and his sister just lived in the basement and never walked out or upstairs …show more content…

As you read in the book, his parents nor his friends gave him any hope. But his grandmother did. She was the only one being optimistic about Junior changing schools and getting out of the reservation. She was optimistic about him trying to turn his life around, and to get a little change instead of living on the reservation his whole life. I am going to talk about her later. I have friends and family that give me hope, and if I have an opinion about something in my life, they look at it from different angles to try to figure what is best for me and what would happen in the future if I made that decision …show more content…

In Juniors life, there are more factors that takes away his hope than gives him hope. In my life, there are more factors that gives me hope than takes away my hope. In other people’s life, there can be equally as many factors that takes away your hope and gives you hope. I think that if you look at the bright side of things, you will get more hopeful and see your life changing, your grades changing and your relationship to your friends and family. Maybe not a remarkable difference, but some change. Maybe you can talk to your parents about more things now or you feel that you are mastering a subject. Some also gets more hopeful by seeing other people
