In America alone, we as a country waste approximately 60 million tons of food (as of 2016). This food that is being wasted is not passed it’s expiration date, not rotten or bad, but it is merely found ugly. Though not all the blame is to be placed on the consumer alone, but also on the producer.
When driving behind your local restaurant you notice a green bin filled to the brim with black plastic bags of unused, perfectly intact food. Witnessing this amount of waste is eye opening to the tragedy happening around the US today, for while you are being fed generous bunches of food, there are people starving. Even at my own school I observe the students and staff dumping a plate full of food into the trash can, without a word. Taking a turn
