The word “luxury” came from Latin “luxuria”- extras of life (Dazinger,2005: 9) According to Oxford Latin Dictionary “luxury” came from the word “luxus” – ‘extraordinary living’ (1992). All luxury fashion pieces are the symbols of wealth, status, prestige that provide pleasure. The fashion industry is still exceptionally fast growing and fast changing, which dictates news ideas and trends at an astounding rate. Product perception as ‘fashionable’ loses it value very soon. One day’s desired luxury item can become unwanted by the next. To update new trends, changes and fashion designs successful communication is essential (Moore, 2012: 9). To maintain good face-to-face relationship with the customer communication throughout all channels is highly important (Carr, 2013:5) 87% of the UK population is constantly using internet (worldbank.org). Having a good reputation and staying active on social media is essential for any business to be successful. Digital channels provide instant customer feedback and contact (Moore, 2012:19). According to Jim Sterne, in the physical world an unhappy client can share his/her experience with six people, but on the internet each customer can tell it to over 6,000 friends (2000:4). So it is better to guarantee every customer shares positive feedback. Harrods has over 544,000 followers and “likers” on Facebook page. Customers, fans and loyalists build and maintain strong relationship and loyalty to the company on social media (Carr, 2013:5). Facebook is a great place to generate advertising and make use of Harrods notoriety to its half a million fans. Moreover, high customer service is also one of the main reasons why clients choose Harrods. The main features regarding customer service were: sales associates’ helpfulness, efficiency, personal interest and the availability of native speakers. The abundance of native speakers plays a big part because foreigners mainly prefer a native speaker to help them with their purchases. Moreover Harrods is successful in communication with its clients and it explains why clients stay loyal to the store. Long-year relationships between sales associate and client results customer’s total trust and makes him/her choose Harrods every time.
The other day I was walking back to my dorm room and I saw someone wearing a shirt that read "Fcuk" across the front. If looked at quickly, one would think that there was some modern profanity being displayed on the front of the shirt when, in fact, there was none. The writing on the shirt actually is a label for a company by the name of French Connection. All this begs the question, is fashion becoming more brash, or is it emphasizing on the American right to freedom of speech? Furthermore, are some people taking that constitutional right too far? Clothing and fashion has always had a language of its own. Throughout the ages, the style in which one dresses has defined one's position in society, one's political views and one's occupation.
According to many such as Reed-Danahay, Pierre Bourdieu, a French sociologist of the 20th century is recognized as being among the most instrumental sociologists of our epoch. According to Bourdieu, one’s existence is not merely to exist but in reality is to find existence within a social context in order to find recognition. According to Bourdieu, individuals strengthen and reproduce their social status within a specific class through the use of cultural and social capital. Social capital is defined as one’s association with important connections or involvement within society whereas cultural capital is outlined as an individual’s level of knowledge, experiences and education. He argues that social capital and cultural capital is equally essential to that of economic capital which can be used to separate themselves from certain castes. Bourdieu uses the notion of habitus, a system of flexible behaviors which are rooted within individuals through their socialization which has the ability to influence ones decision making. These concepts bring us to Bourdieu’s theory of ‘fields’ which are the several spaces where levels of social status are organized and reproduced through different forms of capital. One’s level of status within a field is dependent upon the amount of capital they own. Bourdieu’s theories exist in various societies and have become essential in exposing once social status within the world of fashion.

Craftsmanship, innovation and uniqueness are the basic pillars that define the success of any luxury brand. But Louis Vuitton and Chanel, which are comparatively modern luxury, achieved success within an intimate community of fan followers. Looking back in history, we see how Louis Vuitton had already initiated the concept of social endorsement as a communicative marketing strategy, when he decided to advertise Empress Eugenie on his shop on the Boulevard Haussmann. On a similar line, although from a perspective of popular origin, Coco Chanel channeled her initial success by maintaining close bonds with the elite from the Paris fashion society. Most designers even today have generated initial success by maintaining strong ties with a small

For the love of god, why? They were heinous the first time they were popular, and certainly they have not aged any better.
It is very well said that fashion comes from within ourselves and not what we see and copy. It is reflected in our attitude, the way we walk, talk or even eat. There are no boundaries set as to what is fashionable and what is not. Whatever makes us happy, comfortable and confident is fashion and that is something that we should keep in mind. Fashion has become an integral part of any contemporary society. It is an omnipresent aspect of our lives and is one of the focal topics of the print and electronic media, television and internet, advertisements and window displays in shops and malls, movies, music, modes of entertainment etc. Though the term ‘fashion’ is often used synonymously with garment, it actually has a wider connotation. A garment
One of the things I like the most about the fashion world is that it is always changing, it never stops so you never get bored. We are always experimenting and trying new things, but also we take influences from a previous era, we modify them and create something new. We get inspired by others until we find our own style which also helps others to find their own. I use fashion to express myself and my personality, I like how clothing can portray a message about ourselves and allows us to communicate with each other without using words. People underestimate the power of fashion and the impact that it has in the world, to me fashion is not just artistic expression, it is also a form of social awareness, a critique against the norm and a form of expression for ones social, cultural and political standpoint.
The nineteen sixties was the beginning of a new era where the youth had power. They wanted to have a say in the life around them. The way to do that was through music and fashion. It was the youth 's way of expressing their emotions. Fashion reflected the music by expressing personal opinions. The fashion was directed towards teenagers. Before the youth had no say in their fashion choices and would look like their parents. By the mid nineteen sixties the fashion generalized to one type of style. All the teenagers had a style of dressing that they could call their own. The teenagers eventually influenced the fashion to all ages. Swimwear in the early nineteen sixties was conservative. Towards the mid nineteen sixties the swimwear drastically changed to bikinis. For men it was swimming trunks like it still is today. Fashion was culturally formed, and there is a close relationship between art and fashion. The first designer who had his label sewn into a garment he created was Charles Frederick Worth (1825-1895). In the 1840s, adult women adopted a variation on girls' pantalettes as an undergarment. (Toccata: March 2010 toccatamundi.blogspot.com

Introduction Historically, multiple styles of dressing have been created during the last several decades, which played an important role in modern fashion in the UK. Everyone has a different and unique dressing style in their everyday life. Some styles are influenced by vintage styles which are attributing to the deep effects of old vogue, and another group of dressing styles are inclined into the fresh element. Despite those different styles, some of them have even evolved into the milestones in fashion history. To start this essay, it will introduce the evaluation of the first significant revolution of dressing style in the 1960s.
To begin with, I shall look at what fashion is; it is a currently popular style or practice involving clothing, footwear or accessories. It mostly refers to the current trends in looks and dressing style of a person (Cumming 234). In most cases, fashion is confusedly related to costumes; when a person talks of fashion they are seen to mean fashion in terms of textile. Fashion is seen to originate from the Western world and it is copied by other places. In this paper, we shall look at how fashion affects lifestyles and the group of people who are affected most. The paper further investigates how media is used to transmit fashion from one region to the other. Although it has been seen to affect people’s lives many people have different perspectives on fashion and dressing.
Fashion is a currently valued style of appearance and behavior. It is a way to shape one’s external custom. The history of fashion dates back to hundred years ago and it has seen a remarkable progress in the 21st century. Man has endeavored a lot to bring new changes according to style and elegance that suits his needs and desires. Apparently, our culture is inclined towards fashion and change in the former brings change in the latter. When we talk about Pakistan, from the independence day of August 14, 1947 up-to-date, it has been a society in transition and being dynamic in nature, it isconsequently ever-changing and its patterns are transforming from time to time.
Fashion is an interesting thing. It is often said that it is recycled. I have even heard people from different generations say “ I use to wear that back in my day”. I find it so fascinating, that I would sit and wonder if the clothes that I am wearing now was once the style of previous generations in my family. Through the years, fashion has been created, recycled and even it even faded away. Have the fashion trends throughout the generations of my family followed any parts of the cycle?
