There are many types of psychology in the world. Some are used for studying behavior, being educational or counseling someone. People wonder how do we gather information, how we see the world from different perspectives or some insight on how our brain works. Thankfully, there is an area of study that focuses on this direct topic and it is called cognitive psychology. Cognitive psychology is the study of the mind. Its main focuses are the mind as a pathway to process information also including things such as perception, attention, language, and memory. The way these psychologists learn new information is through a scientific approach to discover the processes. It helps us discover things such as language, learning, memory, and speech. Things happen because of how people receive and interpret different information. Knowing these things could help people suggest positive changes in behavior. Also, when people understand how they think, they can analyze thoughts before making decisions. Teachers can use these studies on a class to see which way the class can most efficiently learn. Each group of students may be more visual learners, auditory learners, or kinetic learners (Hosking). Another strategy is how people react to commercials some people like more comedic and laid-back commercials and some just like it when the words “sale” flash on their screens. Things we see daily such as billboards and magazines also have a way of influencing your mind to see what you like.
