I really do not get all of the appeal behind The Hunger Games. This is similar to The Twilight Saga, not that both franchises are the exact same, but they're both highly overrated franchises that are geared mostly towards teenagers. The only difference is that The Hunger Games tries to appeal to all demographics, but just ends up being REALLY obnoxious--- once you see the poster for this movie 1000 times. The one with Katniss on it. This is one of the most ANNOYING movie posters, if not THE most annoying movie poster I have ever seen. The Hunger Games are basically the embodiment of society's off sense of entertainment. It combines the oddities that are violence and reality TV. However, what is it that insinuates the tones for this type of movie? Initially, there's a scene that addresses the fact that the society of this movie is conducting the games as though it was a standardized athletic tournament. In the movie, Haymitch Abernathy brings up how there are sponsors who deliver supplies to the “contestants”. Basically, sponsors influence the who will live or die, incidentally affecting the course of the games. The idea of our country being separated into different districts and being forced to pick random children and have them fight to the death is very farfetched. But the concept of poverty, war, separation, and famine are so very easy to grasp. The Hunger Games presents each of these things in the movie and makes its audience understand and start thinking that this story line could possibly happen in reality. The idea that people are struggling on many different levels, both the people of Panem and the ones living in America. Panem and our society today have many similarities. There are many differences and similarities in survival, punishment, physical appearance, and control in Panem that is also seen in today's world. Although The Hunger Games and Panem are not real, the ideas and things presented in the movie could possibly happen. That idea is what draws the viewer in and has people really thinking about where our society is headed.

The Hunger Games is a great movie that connects to many emotions. The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, is a movie about a girl (Katniss) whom has lived her whole life in constant hunger in the battle for food. She lives in the 12th distract out of 13 and all of the districts get together and have a televised broadcast of citizens ages 12-18 from each district fighting to the death over food for their district. In the end Katniss’ younger sister, Prim has been chosen to fight for her district, in the end Katniss volunteers as tribute (in place) of her younger sister. And then Katniss proceeds to promise her younger sister that she will win the games and return home to her family. There are many factors that play a role in making the hunger games a great movie, such as, the storyline, character development, the violence, and the idea of a film based on a dystopian society.
The novel Anthem by Ayn Rand and the movie The Hunger Games directed by Francis Lawrence and Gary Ross are popular among teens because they can relate to them by the high expectations put upon them. In a dystopian novel or movie, there is a dystopian protagonist. A dystopian protagonist is someone who often feels trapped, struggles to escape, questions existing systems, believes or feels as if something is wrong in the place they live in, and then helps the audience realize the effects of dystopian worlds. These are both good examples because it takes us on a walk through the protagonist's life and only then do we see what dystopian really is.

Being able to survive on your own is something you learn as you grow into an adult. For those living in Panem, specifically Katniss Everdeen, it’s mandatory. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a story where the main character, Katniss, navigates her way through a deadly tournament in which there is no escape. The book beautifully displays several themes of loss and conflict that almost anyone can relate too. The book was later made into a movie, which provided an elegant illustration of our favorite characters in person. Director Francis did an excellent job on this film. This movie is one of the most arousal movies I have seen. This movie is based on the Hunger Games series. The Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen and a boy named Peeta Mellark, who both live in district 12; a city full of poverty and dictatorship. Every year Panem, also known as the Capitol, where they randomly chose 24 tributes, 2 from each 12 Districts, of the opposite sexes. The selected candidates are required to train and fight to the death, leaving only the best contestant as the winner. Originally Primrose Everdeen was chosen as the female contestant for district twelve, but instead her older sister Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute to save her little sister’s life. Then, Peeta Mellark was chosen for the male tribute.

People always say that the book is better than the movie, and though they think they might be right, this isn't always the case. People like having the background knowledge of why a character is doing something in a specific case or why the events are happening and seeing the movie cut out all this extra information may upset them, but that doesn't mean that the book is better. It just means they're more informed reading the book. What is a bad movie? Not having enough information or just not being entertained. I happened to watch the movie before I read the book and I thought it was amazing, but after I read the book the movie just didn't compare to the book. Sure they had the same storyline but I was just more entertained reading the book. That doesn't mean that the movie suddenly wasn't as amazing, because it certainly was, it just means that the two different forms of art have their own unique way of being good. The Hunger Games, a story of 24 kids chosen at random to compete in a Game where they must fight to the death, can be told in different ways. Whereas the book is written in Katniss’ point of view, we get more in depth detail of Katniss’ thought process and characterization, in the film we lose the sense of what makes Katniss a hero, since it focuses more in the technological point of view and how it is used to control the citizens.
