History is important to me because I have been trained that we lose time rather than gain it due to our Western way of English that quantifies times as something to be counted and ticked away. As a linguistics major with a deep interest in history, I gained more perspective on history after learning about Hopi culture. The Hopi see the time as gaining increments and preparing for the next. Upon knowing that I realized that history and events are not about lost to mourn over but instead events that can prepare me for the present. In that same vein, history prepares everyone for the present that that is why it is important. That is why history is important to me, it lays the road map of what can be created rather than what is done. My passion
