Some consider hunting a sport; some do it just for fun. But all those are meaningless. People needed to hunt so they can survive and provide food for the families, villages, towns, etc. In order to survive back in their time, an important trait was hunting. If you had not skilled that or your family hasn’t skilled it, you are going to end up starving. All of the food was out there in the wild life. They had started doing Bison Hunting. Bison was a very popular animal that you would see around a lot. They said that it was fundamental towards the economy and society. Then after the animals bones rots, they would send large amounts of them to back the east. They also harvested the bones and ended up selling them as fertilizer. It was very important especially for farmers in the 1880’s and the 1890’s. But sometime during the 1830’s, the Indian tribe the Comanche were killing around 280,000 bison a year. They also have cage traps so say you are hunting small like a fox or something in that area, you would use some bait and put it inside of the cage.
