1. What is the health status of your community? The health status in a community is assessed “in terms of mortality and morbidity” (Kankakee County Community Health Profile. 2015.p.35). Kankakee community health status is lower than Illinois average. According to the Illinois Public Health Institute’s survey, Kankakee county unhealthy and very unhealthy has a total rating of 28% (Illinois Public Health Institute. 2012) “18% of adults over the age of 18 self-reported having poor to fair health – higher than both Illinois (15.1%) and the United States (15.7%) averages. In the population aged 20 and older, 32.4% of the Kankakee County population identifies as obese – considerably more than Illinois (27.4%) and the United States (27.3%)”( Kankakee County Community Health Profile. 2015. p.5). Infant mortality and other mortality due to different kind of diseases are higher than Illinois as well as the United State. Communicable diseases like HIV/AIDS and alcohol consumption is lower; however, chlamydia is higher compare to Illinois and the United State. The poor air quality leads to respirator problems and data shows that adults with asthma is higher than Illinois and the United State. 2. How do an under serve or low income get access to healthcare? The underserve, low income, uninsured, minority and immigrant receive services from the safety net provider. Some of these providers are the health centers, physicians’ offices, hospital outpatient medical and emergency departments, and free clinics. The health center and free clinic provide treatment and other care services like “language translation, transportation, outreach, nutrition and health education, social support services, case management, and child care services targeted to... ... middle of paper ... ...ugh time to explain and to listen. There are times when I would help but I never seen the healthcare professional mistreating her. Healthcare professionals have to practice the principal of beneficence; which is a principle to do good, no evil. All individual need to be treated with respect and dignity. 6.What is the public experience and perception of access issue and problem? What kind of health care do people want? anatomy of health care p14 The public experience and perception of access is that there is not enough physician compare to Illinois and the United State; which at a rate of 51.9 physician per 100,000 population compare to 96 for Illinois. The Kankakee County people would like a healthcare that addresses “mental Health needs, improve access to care and reducing risk factors for chronic disease-obesity”. (Kankakee County Health Department. 2012. p.8).
