The novel The Great Gatsby shows us many different themes throughout the book . The author F. Scott Fitzgerald does a great job of showing the themes hope,money and obsession throughout the characters. F. Scott Fitzgerald shows the themes hope through gatsby along the whole book. Gatsby does everything in his power to get daisy back who he met as a young military officer before leaving to fight in the war. Gatsby immediately fell in love with daisy who promised to wait for him when gatsby later on returns home he finds out that daisy has married to a man named Tom after this gatsby attempts to getting an education and from that moment on he was dedicated to earning enough wealth to get daisy back . Gatsby later on moves across the bay from daisy into a big house where he later own throws big parties were many people attended and where thousands of dollars are spent just so he can get Daisy’s attention “I think he half expected her to wander into one of his parties some night “ said Jordan. The character Gatsby who came from a family of poor farmers in North Dakota but at the age of seventeen he is determined to make something of himself . Gatsby goes off with a man named Dan Cody and never looks back Dan Cody taught gatsby everything there is to know about the rich society. From everything Dan Cody taught Gatsby,Gatsby uses it to charm daisy before the war but when Gatsby returns he finds out daisy in fact didn’t wait on him instead she married another man. This causes him to pursue his dream of being wealthy any way he can “he and this Wolfsheim brought up a lot of side-street drug-stores here in Chicago and sold grain alcohol over the counter” says Tom . In fact gatsby did make most of his money from bootlegging alcohol . As you’ve read this book you can tell Gatsby just wants to be as wealthy as possible so he can win daisy
