The sidewalks are dingy, piles of garbage bags sit in front of fancy restaurants, rats peering out of them. Taxi drives cursing at eachother through the car window and there I sat observing all of these things in the back of an outdated taxi cab. The unhinged thread from the leather seats piercing my back. Leaving what looked like mosquito bites. I rummage through my purse to try to find some loose change. The taxi stops I run out before the taxi driver realizes I didn't pay and run into a dingy worn out apartment building in which I call home. I grab what's left of floral wallpaper off of my wall and wipe my makeup from last night off. His beard was so outgrown it nearly covered half of his face. His bright blue eyes exam me. “Meet me at this address at 8:00 pm.” He says handing me a crinkled up note. I reached into my pocket grabbed the note read it again and shoved it back into my pocket. I cleaned up a couple more tables and changed out of my uniform. “See ya later Liz.” “Bye Jen See ya tomorrow.” I walked up to my outdated jeep, turned the engine on blasted the radio and headed home. The note still sat in my pocket but I refused to go to the address that was given to me by a creepy old man. The streets were pitch black the only thing that was visible were the cars passing by there bright lights flashing right in my face. The car behind me seemed to be following me home. So I made a U-turn to try to confuse the driver of the car. After a long drive through different streets I headed home. As I was walking up the stairs to my apartment I saw a shadow at the top of the stairs. It slowly disappeared seconds later. As I was opening the door to my apartment I heard a strange voice whisper near my ear. “I've been waiting for you dear.” My body became numb. I slowly looked up to see who it was.
