“There are all kinds of love in this world, but never the same love twice.” (Fitzgerald).
Love has a diverse meaning for each individual. Whether an individual loves a spouse; friend, family, animal or object, the love may never be the same. Various individuals throughout the course of history have experienced love or have been a giver of the four types of love, as C.S Lewis has mentioned. Which include, Storge, Philia, Eros, and Agape. These types of love can be defined for various feelings of others. For instance, in the play by Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, two characters fall madly in love which results in a serious conflict consisting throughout the play. Juliet has isolated herself from her family to be with the one she loves, Romeo. Juliet does this in many ways. “The clock struck nine when I did send the nurse; in a half an hour she promised to return” (Shakespeare, 2.5. 1-2). In this scene, Juliet is awaiting the Nurse’s response for if Romeo agreed to the marriage. This shows how Juliet is slowly losing trust within her family for they do not know she is planning to marry Romeo, as they believe she is planning to marry Paris. In the play it also mentions how Juliet is taking a potion to make it look as if she is dead. This is for the soul purpose that she will wake up in her family tomb and Romeo will be there, ready to retrieve her then they would run off together. However, her parents know nothing about this. This influences the plot of the play because of the love, Storge. This type of love moves the plot along by Juliet continuing to remove the trust within her family by withholding these secrets that she believes her family should not know because of the family feud between the two rivaling families, Capulet and Montagues.
