Is 16 too young to drive? Some people would agree that 16 is too young to start driving, but there would be consequences if the driving age was raised to 18. One example of a consequence would be that you would just have more accidents in the age group of 18. Another consequence would be that there would be a lot of negative feedback from teens and parents. The teens would also get their future put on hold if the driving age was raised. If the driving age was raised to 18, it would just cause more accidents in that age group. Safe driving has more o do with experience than age. Taking that away from them would cause a lot of negative feedback from teens and parents. Teens have a big responsibility driving, and some may not be able to handle it, but why punish the ones who can? Parents also look forward to the day they don’t have to chauffer their kids around anymore. There would be a lot of unhappy parents and teens if the legal driving age was raised. Raising the driving age also puts a hold on the teens preparing for their future. Driving helps teens prepare for their future more than you think. Driving helps teens prepare by giving them more responsibilities. Putting a hold on that will give the teens less experience on holding a responsibility. Practicing a responsibility like driving will help them in the long run. Some people might argue that 18-year-olds don’t need experience because they are more mature than 16-year-olds. What this argument fails to consider is that they may only be more mature because of the experience of driving that they have. The philosophy “with age comes wisdom” could also work as “with experience comes wisdom”. It’s like if we didn’t go to school, if we didn’t have that experience, we wouldn’t have the knowledge we need throughout life.
