This is the story of the day and the days following that changed my life forever. But first we have to go back to the day I came home from camp. On this day my parents informed me that we would be going to Montana the following weekend for a job interview. It wasn’t just the job interview that changed that day but my relationship with my friend Garret. We left for Montana early on Friday, June 19th; it was a long 16 hour drive that totalled over 850 miles. At about 6:30pm we pulled into Havre, Montana, the town that I would soon know very well. Saturday morning came, and we headed out of town towards the ranch the drive to the ranch was only suppose to take an hour, but in the end it took 2.5 hours. The drive to the ranch was interesting because we took the roundabout way to get there we met one of the ranch’s closest neighbors, the Boyds were 15 miles south of the ranch. After getting internet hooked up, my new life became connected to my old life again, but I still felt just as lonely so far from home. After deciding Havre High School wasn’t the place to attend I started at Chinook High. Chinook High is this little back-of-the-woods kind of school with an average graduating class of 23 students. Soon I learned that Chinook High wasn’t the school for me, so after three days of no one talking to me including teachers, my parents and I decided that homeschool would be the best option. We already knew that it would work because my brother (who is still homeschooled) and I had already done it.
