Yeahhhh!!!!!! Is what everyone yelled at me when I roped my first steer. It was just any ole normal day where we had to work cows. When a steer got out and everyone took off to go rope it, normally I wait till they get back with the steer but this time I felt like I was gonna rope it, so I took off with them. When everyone kept missing I knew it was my chance so I got up there and threw my rope, surprisingly I caught it. The huge smile I had on my face was unbelievable. My dad said, “I was like a kid in the candy store”, with my big smile. I was so pumped all I wanted to do was rope after that and of course I’m spoiled so I got what I wanted. So later that day we went to my perin’s house and roped some more steers. I missed a few times but started to get the hang of it later on. He is also a header too so he help me and gave me lesson on how to control my horse and rope at the same time. Once I got the hang of it he let me go on my own as I was tracking the steer all I heard was “good job, not to fast, watch him, you got this, swing, throw, YEAH” I obviously caught because he wouldn’t have said yeah. Everytime we work cows I hope that a steer gets lose again so I can show them boys how it’s done. “Momma ain’t raise no ..…” is what she always says and it might not be the best words but it’s my motivation to keep going and to never give
