Saul Austerlitz showed great concerned about today’s poptimism adherents have not been well educated and people do not appreciate serious music any more. In against to rockism, poptimism advocates fantasy outlooks, fascinating performing and catchy riffs. Music is produced in order to make the singer and the song more popular and wide broadcasted. However, rockism advocates that music should stick to its original, and music is produced to share the singer’s passion and spirit instead of just making money and spreading the name.
The debate between these two different stands is sometimes blurry. How could you really separate “rock” and “pop”? Pop music elaborates all kinds of music, including rock, and mixes them together in order to create a popular song. But …show more content…

Rockism should know that now is Internet era and the lifestyle has changed a lot from the old times.
It is a trend that people would not stick to only one kind of music for a long time. If they only listen to a few songs or albums for a long period of time, they would get bored eventually and the artists would have to try something new and creative. That's why poptimism against rockism nowadays. As Austerilitz indicated, “poptimism is a studied reaction to the musical past”. Current poptimism defenses itself as creative and energetic compared to rockism, which is at a totally opposite side that only serious music with band performing and poetic lyrics count. However, if we look back at he popular music history, we could see that the poptimism and rockism debates tend to reign by turn.
