South vs. North Back in the late 1800s there were many altercation between the north and the south involving slavery. Eventually these issues would lead to a point where our country would end up splitting up and having the south leave the Union. In my essay I'm going to focus on the Compromise of 1850 and the Election of 1860 leading up to the splitting of the Union.
