1. Cyrano de Bergerac

Cyrano de Bergerac is a classy, intelligent man who writes for a living and his role is that he serves as the gateway for Christian to be with Roxane. Cyrano is so significance because he is stuck in a love problem where he has to help Christian, through his writings to get him and Roxane together but Cyrano also loves Roxane in which he can’t be known that the letters Roxane thinks Christian wrote are actually Cyrano’s feelings. Cyrano is a very intelligent, noble, skillful swordsman who is full of knowledge and creativity to allow him to write his writings. De Guiche was significant due to his plan to send Cyrano and Christian to the front in order to get Cyrano killed and to later have his way with Roxane. Also he wants to patronize Cyrano’s brilliant writings in which Cyrano does not approve. De Guiche has character qualities of being a traitor and being dishonorable when throwing his white scarf down, which defines his military rank for his country.
5. Ragueneau

Ragueneau’s role in the play was that he was one of Cyrano’s friends and owned his own restaurant. Ragueneau was also passionate for poetry. Ragueneau is significant because he is a close friend towards Cyrano and his restaurant is an important place in which Cyrano and Roxane met to talk about her love for Christian. Also he informed about Cyrano’s accident. Ragueneau has character traits of showing generosity and passionate character but also shows over generosity because when he had the poets eat for free, this created conflict with business for his restaurant and with his wife.

He was close to De Guiche which would have allowed De Guiche to be closer to Roxane if he would have had a relationship with Roxane. Valvert was significant because he was a man who was interested in Roxane and also fought Cyrano in a duel after making fun of his enormous nose. Cyrano was not fond of it and then finished off Valvert. Valvert showed disrespectful character traits as he disrespected Cyrano when making fun of his nose. Also he wasn’t very creative as he could not say anything more creative to say when disrespecting Cyrano’s
